This Lionel prewar "O" gauge #251 Locomotive with [2] #605 Pullmans and a #606 Observation were catalogued and produced as set #97a in 1927-1930. They have been lovingly restored to their former glory using paint formulated to match the "Red and Ivory " that Lionel used during the era. The loco and cars have been stripped, primed, painted and kiln-dried and the brass trim has been highly polished and lacquered and the nickel couplers, axles and wheels have been polished as well. The loco and cars have latch couplers. The motor has been rewired and exact repro drive wheels have been installed. A new pickup plate has been installed and these rollers will give you years of trouble free performance. The loco and cars have had new lights installed. The cars have been rewired for the lights systems, and have been relettered using exact repro dry transfer lettering. The 251 and the 605/606 cars are the second largest "O" gauge cars ever produced in the pre war era. The only larger cars were the 710/712 cars and the 256 loco.
