This is a pre war Lionel Train Set - Lionel Lines 1688. The person I purchased this set from said it was a gift given to him back around 1940. The set is in overall very good to excellent used condition. It shows some normal wear, scuffs, dings, scratches, some light oxidation. All the wheels seem to spin nicely. The engine turns very freely, I was told it worked the last time he used it but the older gentleman said it has been many years since he used it. Although not a lionel expert, everything looks like it should. The train set consists of lionel lines 1688 engine, tender says 2689TX on the bottom and lionel lines on the side. Lionel lines 1679 Curits Baby Ruth candy box car. Lionel lines Shell tanker car 1680. Lionel lines 1682 caboose. No coupling on the back of the caboose - not sure if was suppose to have one or not.
