This auction covers a 1983 Lionel SD-40 Union Pacific Diesel engine, O guage. #6-8376. Comes with original box and packing. Engine is 16" long. Recentlly tested after many years of storage. Tested on 0-31 track .,with its six wheel trucks it slows a bit on curves but does negotiate them Engine has Magnatraction , no bothersome traction tires. . While my only detailed source on this item says it should have one Pullmor motor this engine has TWO Pullmors. It runs fine, E-unit works properly but is loud like most of the older ones and it has a loud horn. I am callng this Excellent condition ( instead of like new) because of the undercarriage unit that hangs down between the trucks. It has holes in it like a horn is in it but the horn is up inside the body. there is a square hole cut in the front of the hanging unit. Do not know why unless it was to make the horn louder, which it is.. Anyway it is not visible when in use and the cab etc are in nice condition.
