Up for auction is a Lionel Standard Gauge, early passenger set consisting of a #18, #19, #190 cars. This set is nice for being as old as it is, I believe Lionel stopped embossing cars around 1918 so these cars could be earlier or right around the 1918 time period. All of the cars are complete with original doors, air tanks, couplers, door handles, and trucks. Two of the cars the #19 Combine and the #190 Observation car have people pins in the seats. They all have the scroll type matching lettering and the paint seems to be a good match on all the cars. They all have some window material and I am not sure it is all original. There is some window material missing, in some of the doors and in the oval windows in the #19 car.#18 Parlor Car has various scratches, and chips in the paint, it is the nicest of three cars as far as paint goes. The scroll "Parlor Car" lettering on the sides is good, but the "New York Central Lines" lettering along the top of the windows is there but not very visible. One end of the car is lettered with" No.18 Lionel Lines NY NY made in U.S.A." The trucks are nice corrosion free but could use a bit of cleaning. Window material looks complete and could be original. All the doors are missing the clear window inserts.#19 Combine car has a lot of scratches, chips and missing paint spots. The roof has some of the worst scratches and where it is scratched some surface rust has formed. There are also some small spots above some of the windows that has some minor rust. The scroll "Parlor Car" lettering is faded on both sides of the car. The "Baggage" lettering is faded on one side and ok on the other side. Again like on the #18 the New York Central Lines lettering above the windows is there, just very weak and hard to see. This car also has no visible dents, nice body. It does have one handrail that is detached at the top but is complete and still attached at the bottom. The couplers have some string on the stems they are attached to but they seem to be attached fine without the string?? The cars have the lettering on the ends as well, "No. 19 Lionel Lines NY NY made in U.S.A." #190 Observation Car, with early long observation platform, has various scratches, chips and faded paint. this car has seat pins and a crinkle coupler. There is a small ding in the roof and a slight split in the soldered seam over the platform area of the car, kind of a common defect in the older long platform cars. Also a ding on the vestibule end of the car where the paint is really scratched. This car has complete window material but I am not sure it is all original. There seems to be some green paint on some of the window material above the windows, like maybe it came from a different car. All the lettering is present but most is really faded and you really have to look hard to see it all. Over all a good solid car. This is really a good set of cars and looks good for its age. Would be a great beginning original set for a new collector. The condition of the cars would not warrant restoration as cars in this condition are getting hard to find with the original paint. These cars are being sold "as is" so please look closely at the photos and ask any questions before bidding.
