Hi. You are bidding on a beautiful BEAUTIFUL and rare porcelain bust by the artist Adele Wayland, an early California artist. She is featured in many resources including Davenports Art Resource Guide, but this information is from Edan Hughes Artists in California. Adele Caillaud Wayland (1899-1979) was a sculptor, painter and craftsman. She was born in Oakland and raised in Santa Cruz. She studied art in the 1920s and 1930s at the CSFA and concentrated on ceramics. Her portrait busts were handled locally at Gumps San Francisco. She maintained a studio in San Francisco and on the Russian River. She died in Hawaii in 1979. This particular bust is in lovely condition with glowy beautiful glazework. The only issue is that some of the lace around her head has fallen away. It could have been that this is how it originally looked, but I doubt it. Still, the rarity and beauty is going to wow you. And you are not going to come across this artist's work in terra cotta anytime soon. The size is about eight inches by seven inches. Thank you. Posted with eBay Mobile
