LISTED AMERICAN ARTIST VERY FINE ANTIQUE ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR You are bidding on a very fine and well executed antique original watercolor of boat dock with steeple in the background by listed American artist; Harry DeMaine (New York, 1880-1952) in very good condition. It is in original wooden frame under glass, the matting has discolored. It is a high quality watercolor with fine brush works and use of beautiful colors. Harry DeMaine was born in Liverpool, England and grew up in Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire. He took his first formal art instruction at the Liverpool City Art School, studying subsequently in London and at the Julian Academy in Paris, where he exhibited at the Salons. During WWI, DeMaine was associated in the early days with the American Field Service, a volunteer ambulance service working with the French, and later joined the British Expeditionary Force, serving with the King's Royal Rifles. After the armistice Harry DeMaine came to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. He exhibited widely and held one-man shows in New York and elsewhere, receiving prizes in both watercolor and oil.
