Listed Antique California Plein Aire Impressionist Landscape Oil on Canvas Painting ~~~~ Listed Antique California Plein Aire Impressionist Landscape Oil on Canvas PaintingUnframed, signed Wm. W. Riddell, (1877 - 1948, Lived/active Illinois and California), lower right corner. Condition: Painting is in good condition considerate of age.Canvas shows no repairs/holes or tears, painting has no repairs/inpainting/restoration.There is paint loss along the edges where the frame was in contact with the canvas.Heavily textured, some craquelure to the paint; as shown.One unidentified white spot on canvas surface, several tiny spots of white paint AND paint loss, not readily noticeable unless closely inspected, but last nine images show this in detail.Painting could use a cleaning, and there is a light demarcation line where the wood frame meets the canvas in back, with craquelure to the paint all around this mark; as shown.. Dimensions: Canvas measures 15" X 17". ~No Reserve~This biography from the Archives of AskART: Born in Chicago, IL on March 21, 1877. Riddell began his art studies at the AIC and continued in Paris at Académie Julian under Constant and Laurens. He was in San Francisco in 1901 and active in Chicago until the mid-1920s when he settled in Laguna Beach where he was twice elected president of the local art association. He
