Artist Biography: Garnie Quick (born 1921) Born on June 1, 1921, Garnie Quick has been learning the medium of watercolor for over 25 years. She became enamored when she attended a watercolor workshop at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico in 1984. Since then she has studied with many well known artists both here and abroad. Her travels have taken her to New Mexico, California, Mexico, Italy, France, Ireland and the Caribbean. Her paintings reflect her impression of all that she has experienced, displaying the beauty and excitement that she has discovered in nature and life. Although, she experimented with other mediums such as oil, painting watercolors is her forte. In many of her watercolors we are in the presence of an artist who sees a lyrical quality in people, places and things. Indeed, capturing the essence of the world around her is of primary interest to Garnie Quick in her watercolor painting. She often worked on location, her bright and spontaneous approach created an illuminating interpretation of her subjects Through her magical recreations of still-life, landscape and people’s portraits, Quick captures lasting artistic images. Education/Training: University of Colorado Rocky Mountain Art Institute Art Students League Workshops with nationally known artists such as Tony Van Hasselt, Jeanne Doby, Bill Condit, Betty DeMaree, Serge Hollerbach, Arne Westerman, and Irving Shapiro among others.
