Up for auction is a wonderful collectible item for just about anyone who collects dolls, glassware, tea sets etc. A RARE FIND IN GRANDMA'S ATTIC!!! It is "The Little American Maid Tea Set". Made by The Akro Agate Co., in Clarksburg W. VA. In the original box and it looks like it was never taken out & played with. T is wear to the box. The top cover has some tears to the corners and the bottom of the boxes seems to have ripples. Inside t are a few minor rips w the cups fit in. The pattern of this tea set is a deco pattern titled "Octagonal -C", due to the fact that t are 8 sides. The colores are green, pink, blue and white. Inside the box is a two page article about these prized collectibles. It will be included in the sale, it is from "Traditional Home 1991". I will give a brief summary.Since some people think these were made in the 20's & 30's which it totally NOT TRUE!! Akro Agate was known for making marbles in the 1920's, however it was not until the time if WWII when metal and such was in high demand that the company decided to make tea sets. T were only 9-10 different molds made. Some are SO RARE they are in museums. Some patterns have been losted forever and many sets have become incomplete over the years. It is RARE to find a complete set and when you do, it is usually tucked or packed away. This is how I came across this lovely set. By 1949, sales dropped dramactically and in 1952, the company closed its doors and destroyed all molds the company never reopened and has not made anything since. Please email me with any questions and I will do my best to answer. I am not an expert, I do my best to represent. INSURANCE IS REQUIRED ON THIS ITEM. I accept PAYPAL (preferred method of payment), money orders, and personal checks (held 10 business days to clear - no exceptions!!). I can only guess on wright of package.
