This item number is for an excellent copy of Little Black Sambo. This little hardback book was published by Simon & Schuster of New York as part of the Little Golden Book series in 1948. The is the standard Helen Bannerman story about Little Black Sambo and his umbrella, tigers, and pancakes. The book was illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren. This version of the story is the most remembered but is not the original storybook. It was published in 1893. The book listed on this item was issued as an "I". The book is complete. The covers are attached but the top section of the "gutter" area of the spine is split and has tape holding it on the inside. All of the pages are attached and tight to the spine. There is no tape on the pages. There is one page which has a crayon mark of a large O on the bottom left corner of one page. Three pages has small pencil Os.
