The Little Tavern Shops is a chain of hamburger restaurants in Baltimore, Md and Washington, D.C. as of January 2007 only three restaurants remain in the chain, though it was much more numerous once: in 1939 there were 21 in D.C., and 50 in the Baltimore-Washington area.He slogan of the chain was “Buy them by the Bag,” and it’s signs promised “Cold Drinks*Good Coffee”. The chain was founded in 1927 in Louisville, KY, by Harry F. Duncan, who relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1928 where he opened a Little Tavern Shop on 814 E Street NW. (Wikipedia the free encyclopedia)Now that you know a little history about our Little Tavern Mug, you will be ready to bid on this very collectable restaurant coffee mug.There in normal wear on the bottom of the cup and around the lip, there are no chips or cracks. On this mug I have taken close-ups of the rim and bottom, so that you are aware this one has been used. I have not noticed any coffee stains, but there are few white specs where the rim and bottom have worn. (Now this mug is a little worn and pitted from heavy usage, but no cracks and no chips......just a very used cup in a busy restaurant, if you were born in this year and visited The Little Tavern Shop, this is your mug!!)The mug is good heavy ceramic and made from the “Shenango China Company” out of New Castle, PA USA.The bottom of this
