LOBMEYR: Alpha glassware by Hans Harald Rath, Light Blue, Set of 7 Attention Lobmeyr Glassware collectors! I'm listing a very complete collection of Lobmeyr glassware from a private collector. This set of Water Tumblers is as new and ships in its original factory box. The replacement cost of this set is USD$520.00. Each Water Tumbler is approximately 2.8" tall x 3.6" diameter, weighs in at a scant 1 7/8 oz. or 52 grams. Designed by Hans Harald Rath for Lobmeyr in 1952, the Alpha glassware series fits snugly into the hand and was inspired by a copper beaker from the middle ages. The 'Alpha Beaker' was very much a product of the 1950s, stackable & ideal for young families who need products that are both elegant and practical. Alpha is made of the thinnest muslin glass & is hand blown into wooden molds. Named after the finely woven French fabric, muslin glass is crystal blown to a thickness of only .7 – 1.1 mm. It appears delicate, but is remarkably resilient thanks to its inner elasticity & formal construction. The stackable water tumblers, are available in citrin, rosaline, amethyst, light blue, light green, grey, & black. Whether it’s wafer thin muslin glass or glass that owes its shape to cutting – Lobmeyr reinstates the beauty of this omnipresent material, returning elegance & refinement to everday life.
