Spectacular High Period Art Nouveau Loetz glass oil lamp. Probably from just about 1910. The glass oil tank measures about 5" in diameter and is just over 4" high and is EXTRA perfect. The colors range from psychedelic irridescent deep purple to lemon yellow. T are striations of clear, non irridized glass that can be seen in the closeup photos.. These striations give three dimensional dept to the surface of the glass. The shade is hand blown tissue thin white milk glass. The top rim of the glass angles down as if it sgged while still hot and plastic. The shade is in EXTRA perfect condition. The brass burner is in good condition as is the clear glass chimney. The fitter rim made of brass (the part that the shade rim sits into) is in good condition, but the lamp has been used in its life and the brass wiggles a bit. The brass colar that fits over the opening in the glass looks like someone used a wrench to hold it somtime LONG ago. Its still fully functional. The base is a three legged tripod and is in very good condition. The part of the base into which the glass oil tank sits has a small dent. A good jeweler can tap and buff this out. as the metal is not scarred. The lamp measures about 26" in height to the top of the chimney glass. The top of the milk glass shade is a few inchess less. The shoulder of the glass oil house is about 12" up from the bottom of the base.Overall the lamp is in very good condition and the glass is in extra perfect condition. It has been used in its life and wiggles a bit, but the glass and lamp are in very good condition. This lamp is an outstanding Art Nouveau representation of a functional apparatus that was actually used at the time of its making. It combines Loetz art glass and sweeping brass fittings to offer a superbly balanced base and shade combination. an outstanding example of the period and form.I bought this lamp complete in Northern Europe.Happy Bidding!
