Its time for this one to rise and shine! The experts are split on the exact Genre of this Loetz vase. Some believe its Genre 85/5047 for the Austrian retailer Bakalowits and Sons in metallic red. Others believe its a variant of Genre 2/207. Whichever attribution, t his seldom seen line is a tour de force of surface decoration. Its the deeply etched surface that makes this vase a standout. The pulled oil spot treatment caused puddles and carved canyons into the glass surface, leaving behind a silvery blue and gold metallic iridescence. The base glass color is called metallic red and looks like a combination of pink, salmon and orange dependent on the available light. This Loetz Phänomen Genre vase has a great shape and most likely created right around 1902. The rim is fire polished and the pontil is ground and factory polished. Condition: Excellent. The vase shows only the textures imparted upon the piece in the making and age appropriate wear. This includes a few surface inclusions as well as some open bubbles, as pictured in the photos.
