LOGANsPORT Ia AUG 5 (1846) red circular date stamp, large handstamped red "10" on stampless folded letter to "Hon. Secretary of War, Washington DC." Letter is dated Logansport Indiana Augst 4 1846 and reads: "Sir: I wish to obtain from your office a copy of my discharge as a private during the last war. I enlisted in 1813 and serv'd in Capt Abner P. Spencer's Company of the 29th Regiment and was discharged in Jan'y 1815 at Plattsburgh. I have occasion for the use of a copy of my discharge and will thank you to transmit it to me at this place without delay. Very respectfully, Daniel McKee" Notes on the margin of the cover indicate "Logansport, Inda Augu 4/46, Daniel McKee - asks for copy of his discharge . . Enlisted 14 Mar 1814 to serve during the war. Discharged 11 June 1815 from Cap't Spencer's company 29 Inf at Plattsburgh. Ans'd August 12 1846."
