This lovely 26 piece coffee service is made by one of Europe's oldest porcelain manufacturers, Lomonosov Imperial Porcelain This set is entirely hand painted with gold highlights and trim. Lomonosov mark appears on the back of each piece. Set Includes: 6 cups 6 saucers 6 cake/desert plates 1 Serving plate 1 Candy dish 1 sugar bowl and lid 1 coffee pot and lid 1 cream pitcher 1 bud vase This design was specifically manufactured for the Russian (USSR) domestic market (as indicated by the hallmark), so it was unavailable outside of Russia. I picked it up in Moscow in 1991 just after the fall of the Soviet Union. As far as I can tell, it is no longer manufactured. I repaired it with ceramic glue. T are two small chips along the repair. You can't see it unless you are looking for it. No sign of damage to any other piece. I could not get a decent image of the crack but what pictures I have are at the following URL /~nabeles/site/?/page/Lomosov_Coffee_Service_Russian_%28Rare%29/ A Little History Founded in 1744 by Peter the Great's daughter, Czarina Elizabeth, the Lomonosov Porcelain factory was created to supply the Russian Royal Family with fine porcelain. It is one of the oldest porcelain makers in Europe. During the reign of Catherine the Great it was called The Imperial Porcelain Factory, while after the Revolution it became the State Porcelain Works. Later still it was renamed Lomonosov in honor of the founder of the Russian Academy of Science. Lomonosov creations are hand painted and all have the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (LFZ) logo at the back.
