LETTER 1) DATED 28th SEPT 1854. REPORT FROM MR BENNETT , CLERK AT BASINGSTOKE STATION TO THE EFFECT THAT MR JACKSON, DRIVER OF THE FABULOUSLY NAMED STEAM ENGINE "TITAN" WAS INTOXICATED AND LEFT BASINGSTOKE RAILWAY STATION WITHOUT THE GUARD AND FIREMAN EVEN THOUGH SIGNALS WERE MADE TO TRY TO STOP HIM. MR BEATTIE SUSPENDED MR JACKSON THE DRIVER OF TITAN. LETTER 2) LETTER DATED 12th OCT 1854. MR BEATTIE CONSIDERED MR JACKSONS LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT. LETTER3) 9th NOV 1854. THE LOCOMOTIVE CARRIAGE COMMITTEE DESIRE TO AGAIN EMPLOY MR JACKSON AS AN ENGINE DRIVER BUT SOME OTHER WORK IF RETRAINED IN THE COMPANY SERVICES. MR BEATTIE REPORTS THAT ENGINE DRIVER JACKSON HAS LEFT THE SERVICE. (VERY INTERESTING THREE PAGE STORY OF MR JACKSON, ENGINE DRIVER OF STEAM ENGINE TITAN) THESE THREE LETTERS ARE 157yrs OLD.
