This 1989 Inaugural Basket from Longaberger was the 1st basket woven for this collectible series. Issued only once every 4 years to coincide with the U.S. Presidential election and subsequent Inauguration this basket comes compete with a pewter commemorative tag and original product card (though not pictured it will be sent with basket). The basket is based on the 5" measuring form and has a single stationery oak handle. Most all handles on 1989 and prior years baskets were crafted from oak. The basket starts at the bottom with a 4" square and goes up 4.25" high to a round 5" diameter top. The handles adds another 4.25" for a total of 8.5" in overall height.

It is woven with blue and red accent weavings. The coloring and condition of this basket is excellent as you can see by the pictures! This was originally purchased by me, a former Longaberger representative, for my personal collection and has never been used for show purposes. It has been on display in my home in a smoke-free environment. The Bentley Guide lists the value of this 'first in a collection' at $225 to $490.
