We are offering for auction two (2) commemorative medallions from the “Great American Triumphs” collection. LEWIS & CLARK EXPEDITION ELI WHITNEY'S COTTON GIN These beautiful collectible medallions contains .999 Fine Silver and are part of a limited edition series issued by Wittnauer Precious Metals Guild and Longines Symphonette to commemorate historic events “ Great American Triumphs ” issued in 1972. The edge of each coin is marked .999 Fine Silver. Each medallion is 1-5/8 inches in diameter and is approximately 1/8 inch thick. They are crafted in great detail and are three dimensional. There is an artistic rendering in high relief on the face of each medallion and the reverse contains a description of the memorable event that is depicted. Included are the original printed pamphlets describing these highly collectible medallions. Each medallion weighs approximately 1.20 ounces and is Fine Silver. Fine Silver contains .999 Silver . These medallions have an antique finish so you can hold and feel the deep-relief sculpture without the fear of tarnishing. The current silver melt value on each medallion as of 4/21/11 is approximately $55.96 or $111.92 for both . This value is increasing every day. This is a wonderful investment.
