Up For Auction, I have a Very Nice Vintage Porcelain Advertising Store Sign, LORILLARD'S BEECH - NUT CHEWING TOBACCO ESTABLISHED 1760 EXTRA PICKED This Awesome sign is in Excellent Condition with just a few minor rub marks and a small chip near the bottom left hand corner by the rivet ( shown in pictures ). I have seen a few of this style of signs as reproductions and they have been dated and noted that they are reproductions. Alltough I don't find any makers mark or date, This One I Believe is an Original . The finish is in awesome condition with some crazing, the Colors are Bright with very little fading. T are 4 rivets one in each corner which have a little surface rust. This Retro / Vintage Advertising Sign Measures Approx.: 9 Inches Wide X 12" Tall X 3/16" Thick. Lorillard was the oldest tobacco manufacturer in the country, launched in 1760 by French immigrant Pierre Lorillard in New York City to make pipe tobacco, cigars, plug chewing tobacco, and snuff. The company would become a pioneer in marketing, paying farmers for painted signs on the sides of their barns, initiating the use of trading cards, and according to some, introducing the cigar store Indian.
