GRADUATED SET of N.S. GUNSTIN BLUE STIPPLE DUCK CANISTERS ~ LIKE NEW Description: This auction is for a set of 3 MARKED N.S. Gunstin blue stippleware handpainted canisters produced back in the 1980's. They measure 10", 12" and 14" in height, with a diameter of 5" (5 1/2" with lids). The lids are all the same size - it is the varying heights of the canisters that gives them the graduated look. The ducks are handpainted and the artist's marks appear on the bottom side of the canisters. The N.S. Gunstin labels are fully intact, as can be seen in the scans. The canisters are in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing or manufacturing imperfections that I can find. I am not an expert in this area, but I can find no defects. These canisters are EXTREMELY scarce, particularly in consideration of their excellent condition. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In the 1980's I purchased a very large number of the hand-painted N.S. Gustin and Los Angeles Pottery blue stipple (sometimes called spongeware) items from the Pottery Shack in Laguna Beach, CA. Each week when the truck arrived from the factory I was t looking for new additions to the collection. The vast majority of the pieces were used as display items either in my home or in my catering business; they have received very little use as they have been packed away since the early 1 990's. At this point, I am selling some of the accessory pieces from this chicken and duck stipple collection as they are too fragile to be used in my current business.
