VERY OLD LOT OF 13 35" TWISTED BRASS STAIRWAY CARPET RODS WITH ORIGINAL HARDWARE This auction features a 13 piece lot of brass carpet rods from my parents' estate -- they were purchased new and graced our family home main stairway for at least 30 years before we sold the house 5 years ago. They are used at the back of each stair riser to accent a carpet runner on a stair case. T is a gold foil sticker (see detail photo) showing they were made in Hong Kong still attached to one of the rods, and they are beautifully detailed in a twisted style with round end "finials" on each side. These finials screw off to add the two matching brass brackets that hold them in place on either side of the carpet, which are screwed down into the wood of the stair with brass screws. These original brass screws are part of this lot so all you really need is a stairway, a runner and a drill and you can have one classy stairway in very short amount of time, with minimal effort! This set is in excellent condition in need of a bit of polish -- I like the current patina but they would shine up easily if desired. One finial needs a minor weld back in place on its rod, but otherwise the set is ready to share another charmed lifetime in a new, well appointed home. I have researched other carpet rods to determine what style these might be considered, and have not seen any others as ornate as these -- my wonderful parents only had the best so I am very sure these are a bargain at the price of this auction. I only wish I could use them instead of selling them and have held them all these years hoping to use them eventually but it is not possible (stairway too small), so my loss will some lucky ebayer's killer deal. I offer them well before Christmas in the hopes they will be enjoyed while entertaining friends and family with style and not wasted under my guest bed another year.
