1834 Satirical view of Andrew Jackson "Perish Credit Perish Commerce" with a hog/wild boar 'running wild'. Almost the size of a US half dollar. Really nice example with hints of original mint luster. Please study photos and grade accordingly. Coin in photos is the coin that will ship to you. Free shipping! If returned, coin must be in original holder. All shipments have a tracking#. Hard Times mid 1830s to early 1840s. Poor economic policy during the Andrew Jackson administration caused deflation and the hoarding of hard currency (coins), bringing the economy to a near halt. In an attempt to halt inflation and real estate (public lands) speculation, Jackson vetoed the recharter of the Second Bank of the United States and put into law the acquisition of public lands would be with hard currency only. The cure was worse than the ailment! When Jackson's former VP Van Buren, took office as President in 1837, he did little to try to modify or correct Jackson's disasterous policies, including the removal of culturally Europeanized Native Americans from their lands (Cherokee and other tribes).
