LOT OF 6 1970s Royal Copenhagen Christmas Plates 1971, 1972, 1974 - 1977 All Designed By Kaj Lange Except 1976 Designed By Sven Vestergaard . 1971 Hare In Winter - Depicts a hare sitting in the snowclad winter- landscape. The hare is one of the most common mammals, living wild, in Denmark. 1972 In The Desert - Osterland - Depicts three men riding their camels through the desert. This motif brings to mind the old narratives from the Bible. At the same time, it is also a scene from the present day, as artist Kaj Lange found the motif on one of his journeys. This unchanging scenery tells much about the way in which traditions have withstood the impacts of technical developments. Today, as hundreds of years ago, traffic still depends on animals moving along routes as old as Man himself. 1974 Winter Twilight - Depicts a winter landscape in twilight, with an owl, a night animal, sitting on a branch in the foreground of the plate, and in the background, the full moon is shining. Kaj Lange conveys not only the restful stillnes when Nature seems to sleep and only few animals can survive, but also a beauty of the season which holds the promise that the cold twilight of winter will eventually turn into the light and warmth of spring. 1975 The Queens Christmas Residence - Depicts Marselisborg castle near Aarhus at winter time. It was built 1899-1902 and was a gift from the citizens of Denmark to King Christian X and Queen Alexandrine on the occasion of their wedding in 1898. In 1969, King Frederik IX handed Marselisborg over to the present queen of Denmark Margrethe and to Prins Henrik, and the palace is now used a their summer residence. 1976 Vibaek Water-Mill - Depicts Vibæk Mill on the island of Als.Vibæk Mill was built as a watermill in 1756. The mill house typifies a style of building deeply rooted in Danish country-culture. 1977 Immervad Bridge - Depicts a hunter with his dog at Immervad bridge, in Jutland,which crosses a ford on an age-old road which connected Viborg in Northern Jutland with Dannevirke at the southern Danish border.
