These are 22 sections from San Francisco newspapers with news and photos from the 1939/40 San Francisco International Exposition , i.e. World's Fair. Many are duplicates that have never been read. Most are dated February 15, 1939, though one is from May 1940. Most are from the San Francisco Examiner , though there are some from the San Francsico Chronicle, The San Francisco News , and The San Francsico Call Bulletin . We had a lot more newspapers in those days. Because these are so old, the conditions vary. Some have worn edges but others were never opened so they range from excellent to good. The advantage of multiple copies is that you can actually read about the World's Fair and still have untouched newspapers. Check out my other items ! There are advantages and disadvantages to this approach. The advantage is that you are not driving up the price by bidding with your competition. The disadvantage is that bidders often forget to keep track of their watched items and find out too late that the item sold for less than you would have been willing to pay, or it didn't sell at all and you could have had it for the minimum bid. The solution to this dilemma is to bid just the mimimum bid early on. This doesn't prevent you from also bidding at the end, and it doesn't drive up the price because it is just the minimum. Also, if you tend to lose track of what is on your WATCH , then you wouldn't have to worry about losing an item that receives no other bids because you would already have bid . Even the most careful bidder can have an unforseen, last minute interruption that prevents him/her from bidding and lose the item altogether . Decide on your maximum : I f you must bid at the very end , bid that maximum right off. If you really bid your maximum, you won't need to feel bad if the item was outbid. Someone else may seem to have outbid you by so little, but you don't know how high the other bidder was willing to go.
