Beautiful Lot of Early 20th Century Writing Instruments From an Estate in Virginia Included are three items, all dating back to the 1920s-30s. is what is included: 1) Antique John Holland Handsome Gold & Green Mechanical Pencil with Gold Hardware, from the Deco Era....this pencil is in very nice, working condition. The pencil looks perfect, save for a minute, small hairline crack 1/3" near the back center. This crack is repairable and went completely unnoticed by us until we disassembled the pencil. The lead feeds from the bottom of the pencil, into the interior chamber. We strongly suspect that this pencil is made of bakelite, but this item has not been formally tested. The top is semi-spherical, black, we think bakelite, as well. This fine pencil measures 5 1/4 inches in length. The gold content of this pencil is not marked, but obvious to those familiar with the color, sheen, and pliability of gold. We strongly suspect that the pocket clip, point, and topand center rings contain gold. 2) Antique Roberts Ball Point Pen....Body of pen is vintage plastic material. Appears operational....original ball point is still very much intact, as we can clearly see with a jeweler's loop. Appears to be gold plated, but the metal content is not indicated (no markings). Includes original lid with pocket clip. Pen measures 5 1/4 inches in total length with cap. 3) Antique Wearever Gold Ballpoint Pen....Lower half of pen body appears to be made of vintage plastic, perhaps bakelite.....upper half appears to be gold plate, but is unmarked. Most of the plating appears to hav flecked off of the pen. Includes its original, functional ball point and cap with pocket clip. Pen measures 4 1/2 inches in total length with cap.
