The item being offered is A LOT OF FIFTY RARE 1852 CALIFORNIA GOLD LARGE INDIAN HEAD TOKENS ********* ***THIS IS THE REAL DEAL*** **THE COINS IN THE PICTURE ARE WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE** ***NO BEARS*** The obverse of the token says "1852" and has an Indian Head w/ thirteen (13) stars around. The reverse says "California Gold" and has a star in a wreath. It is similar to the size of a $5 US Gold Eagle. It is in gorgeous, stunning, GEM MS BU condition. It is so well struck that it almost looks Frosted Proof Deep Mirrored Cameo. It has been stored in a mint bag it's entire life. These tokens were commonly bought as souvenirs in California during the mid 1800's to the early 1900's. T are many different types and quality levels of these tokens. They can have various levels of gold. They were made around 1860-Present and are known to be from 8k to 24k gold. Most were plated 24k over lower grade gold and other non-gold metal alloy. This coin contains the more modern 24K HGE over High Quality Brass. Please study the history of the coin. A search on Google will provide a great amount of info. Tons of information is available about these denominations of souvenir tokens but I have been unable to find much information on this particular type of token and have never seen it on any other auction. The date of manufacture is also an estimate.
