are three grim looking netsuke Ivory or Mammoth tusk antique OLD pieces from the estate I am helping to liquidate. Because they have similar themes I am selling them together. One has a monkey on his shoulder the monkey is holding on to the mans hair. The larger piece is supposed to have his hand on an octopus head ,(the owner said this) but t me it looks like his knee, he is holding a club tho, you can also see his chest bones or bones of some sort. The smaller one is grim, you can see his chest bones & he is carrying a bag on a stick. The theme fees like Happy Grim or smug Grim All I know is they are OLD to me that means over 40. They could be 100 or more I just do not know. I do know they are not like the cheap reproductions being produced and for sale everyw I feel very confident calling them antique. Excuse my descriptions...I am not an expert but I have a few of these pieces to sell for a friend. They belonged to his father who was a collector in the early 40's to the 80's. I have listed them under Japanese because that is the only category which lists Netsukes. I am not an expert, have tried to research, but will leave the floor open to anyone that might have any further ideas on the origin. Possibly old Chinese pieces. Please look at pictures I try to get all angles. These pieces are sold as is and I cannot see anything odd about them. NOTE! 1. The larger piece has dark grain in a few places 2. Middle piece with the monkey has a line or crack? down the center of his face. From my observations looking at other sites, this is not uncommon. Email me if you have any questions & thanks for looking! Please Check out my other items !. Insurance is included in the shipping cost. Thanks for looking. U.S. Bids only please. Items are sold as is so look & ask any questions before bidding. I never sell anything by intentionally misrepresenting. These pieces are from an estate of a man from California who collected many things during the 40's through the 60's. Unable to take returns or give refunds, selling these for a friend. I only ship to the USA, that is w I am. Friend is helping me by allowing me to sell them for a small commission.
