Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bov 04 Here is a lot of three antique & vintage glass bottle, distinctive shape from late 1800's and early 1900s The smallest bottle is approx 2 1/2 inches tall and not quite 2 inches wide and is an olive-amber color glass. Very noticeable when placed by a window or light source, not as noticeable when on a shelf unlit. Embossed on the front and backside "1oz, BOVRIL LIMITED" and on the underside "C9". Small ship on the lip. Bubbles in the glass. Mold seams disappear halfway up the neck. The second is approx 3 inches tall and a little bigger than 2 1/4 inches wide and is a lighter amber brown color glass. Embossed on the front and backside "2oz, BOVRIL LIMITED" and on the underside has no writing at all. This bottle could use a cleaning. It has bubbles in the glass. Some cooling marks (like etched lines) in the glass and a flea-bit chip on the lip. The biggest is approx 3 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide and is a brown color. Embossed on the front and backside "4oz, BOVRIL LIMITED" and on the underside "Made in USA". Few bubbles in the glass, no chips. The Bovril company was formed in 1889 and still is in production today. It was eveloped to meet the needs of troops in war who needed a form of meat extract that was easy and safe to transport, and even though Bovril was used in homes and peacetime, it continued to be a staple war-food in WWI and WWII, known often as "beef tea" It was a “dug bottle” by my grandfather approx 60 years ago (in the 1950s) and all items dug in the Niagara area of Ontario , Canada . It is in “as found” condition, complete with some dirt and blemishes (I have not attempted to clean the bottles in fear of damaging them). As always, please see photos and feel free to ask questions.
