DESCRIPTION: Lot of four small wooden boxes, each one the surface for a superb miniature modernist abstract painting. Larger boxes measure 3" tall and the smaller ones are 2.5" tall. Unconditionally guaranteed totally hand painted on my careful examination through a loupe and you absolutely won't be disappointed. These were found in a local Dallas Consignment Shop, reportedly the work of an American woman named Sybil Edwards [or similar] who is now deceased. Googling "Sybil Edwards Painted Boxes" or "Sybil Edwards Painted Eggs" yielded no information. T he boxes are **unsigned** and she was evidently some type of little known or semi-anonymous artist. Nonetheless, stunning pieces as I hope the pics show. Given the tiny sizes and curved surfaces of the boxes, the precisionist brushwork necessary to execute these miniature paintings would require incredible talent. The pics tell the rest of the story and I feel certain that you will never see anything like these again. No damage and very little wear, each box retains at least 99% of its paint with no detracting losses.
