Lot of 21 Forties (1940's) World War II Yank magazine
Lot of 21 Forties (1940's) World War II Yank magazine
Sold For:
YANK - The Army Weekly Yank was published as a weekly magazine for a mere 3-1/2 years. It's audience was the soldiers of the Allied Forces of World War II. It's mission was to keep them informed and boost their morale. The latter was accomplished with a myriad of comics plus a pin-up in each issue. With the war ending in 1945, Yank's final issue was December 28, 1945. The magazines in this auction are all from 1945 towards the end of its run. Each issue is 10-1/2" by 14" (similar to the old Life magazine size) with 24 pages and has an address label on the front cover. Their condition would be considered to be good to fair. Yank was published on newspaper grade paper, so it's no surprise that they have become yellow and brittle. As a result, they are prone to tears. Additionally, many of these issues will display wear on their spine and wear and chips around their edges. Despite these defects, all 21 issues in this lot are complete and have no cutouts. They have been stored flat in a dry, smoke-free environment. The articles listed under each issue are only a small sample of what it contains.
