This auction is for 29 35mm slides of Blackhawk Film Slides of the Milwaukee Road Steam Locomotives. I think this is a partial set, t are a few missing. I will give each of the numbers and desription of each slide. Each slide number starts with 407 and I will only list the last set of numbers on the slides. 1- In its last decade of steam operation, the Milwaukee Road had an extra ordinarily varied motive power roster. 2- Class F-3 Pacifics handled many of the local passenger trains. 3- Mikado-type locomotives like this L-2 handled freight. 7- The Class S-2 4-8-4's were busy on time frieghts even up to the last gasp of Milwaukee Road steam. 12- Class S-3 4-8-4's were dual-service war babies. They didn't last long after war was over. 17- This USRA "Mike" is heading west with time freight 263 for Seattle. 21- Ready tracks at one of the the two large roundhouses in West Milwaukee. 22- Looking down upon the storage tracks. 23- F-3 Class Pacific which has just come into Milwaukee from Madison run. 24- The Milwaukee Road's Prairie types were originally built for through freight service in the rolling midwestern section of the road. 25- Lots of steam power in this April, 1955, photo, but no signs of live steam. 26- General view of West Milwaukee engine terminal and shop w most Milwaukee Road cars and some locomotives were built. (Braves stadium in background) 27- L-2 Mikado making beautiful exhaust in below zero weather. 29- In February 1951, much heavy switching and yard work was still being done by Consolidation-type locomotives. 30- Both the steam and the street car viaduct are gone now. This was the scene at Grand Avenue Tower, Milwaukee. 31- Five cars of meat in a hurry behind Mikado. 34- In early 50's, high-wheeled Pacifics of the Class F-3 were often assigned to Chicago suburban runs. 35- Waiting at Wauwatosa, Wis., for only surviving Milwaukee suburban train, the Cannonball . 39- One of the last steam train specials-a railfan train-along shores of Pewaukee Lake, Wis.. 41- F-3 Pacifics easily handled fast Chicago trains-85 miles in 80 minutes. 42- T goes No. 10 - mid-morning one-stop Milwaukee-Chicago. 43- No. 24 with F-6 running at well over 90 miles per hour at junction A-20 north of Chicago. 51- The Prairie-type locomotives took a new lease on life in the years just before 100% dieseliztion. 52- Prairie-type on a way freight near Elm Grove, Wisconsin. 55- Even steam 0-6-0 switchers, like this I-6 at Madison, Wis., were still at work in 1951. 57- Sleek and fast or pudgy and humble, they all ended in the same scrap line. 58- Aged ten wheelers, useful on so many odd assignments, were among the last to go. 59- Steam and smoke no longer swirl beautifully around railroad motive. 60- Almost the last one into the sunset of steam- Pacific powered Cannonball - silhouetted near Pewaukee, Wis.. These slides seem to be somewhat old and need a good cleaning. Since I'm not sure of the correct way to clean slides, I'll leave this up to the winner of this auction. I am selling off most of my collection and will be listing a lot in the next couple of weeks. Please email me with any questions. Due to the fact that some people cannot be trusted and would get these slides, make copies and then want their money back, T will be no return, no refund on these slides. I scanned these at 150 dpi and they would scan better at higher dpi. I didn't try any inprovement to the scan, I just don't have the time. Shipping for the USA will be $2.00 and $4.00 for Canada. I refuse to make extra money on shipping. If my charges are more then $1, I will refund the amout above shipping cost. Any amount shipping cost over what I list, is on me. I will accept personnal check and Money Order and Paypal perferred. I sometimes feel that insurance is a waste of money, due to the amount of hassle you have to go through to collect your money and then the added expense they charge to process your claim, I don't recomend getting it.
