are 30 original prints of some of the Joe Rosenthal photos that he took on Iwo Jima and the South Pacific. Oral history is that these were originally purchased by a WW2 U. S. Navy pilot who was in the South Pacific, from Joe Rosenthal himself. It seems that he had made some packets of his photos in the small 4 3/4" x 3 3/4" size and was selling them to the sailors and pilots to get a little extra cash. They are being offered by the pilot's daughter who recently inherited them. T is a copy of the famous shot of the "First Flag" and several other scenes that are also well known, but in addition, t are many other scenes of rocket fire, weapons, and some rather graphic and scenes of the destruction and death that surrounded the soldiers on a daily basis, All photos are in good condition and some have titles that are hand written in the borders - the writing is somewhat faded but still legible.
