Up for bid are four (4) popular damaged lady head vases with descriptions as follows: The first Christmas vase, 6"; (from left to right) from the neck up is perfect, i.e., peaches & cream complexion; no paint missing; no chips; no cracks; no repairs; no crazing; from neck down many breaks and was glued; missing piece in front left by tie; areas of porcelain missing in back from locks of hair; Napco incised on bottom in addition to paper label (National Potteries Co., Cleveland, Ohio, Made in Japan (C) and stamped CX4900B (C) Napco 1961. Appears in David Barrons 2004 book; pg. 166; $200. The second Christmas vase, 6", no crazing, has peaches & cream complexion; original earrings; two chunks in front right and left missing from green top; leaf missing from poinsettia on hat; large area around poinsettia on hat was broken off and glued; tight hairline crack on front right on hat; tight hairline crack on back of hat middle; paper label on bottom (Inarco Japan) and stamped 1961 (C) Inarco E-195A. Appears in David Barrons 2004 book, pg. 166; $220. The third vase, 5 1/2", blue hat and top; face has wonderful complexion; one craze line from neck up to bottom of lip; earrings not original; her head was broken off and glued; chunk missing under neck in front; glue stain and small paint missing left back at top of blouse line; left top rim of hat small area of paint missing; paper label on bottom (Napcoware Import Japan) and stamped C7494. The fourth vase, 6", peaches & cream complexion; facial paint missing sporadically under right eye; left eyelash has crack down middle, perhaps was mfg that way as t is no repair; pinky finger missing; point finger needs to be glued included with vase; corner piece of ribbon right side front broken off; areas of paint missing in hair in front also in hair on back and around rim and back near neck and right shoulder; earrings are not original; incised on bottom R489; stamped Rubens Japan with a crown; and paper label (Rubens Original Japan Los Angeles). Appears in David Barrons book 2004; pg. 52; $95. I purchased the vases damaged in 2001 to enjoy in my office as they showed well despite their problems; I am now retired and decided to sell them.
