You're bidding on 5 (6 counting the business card) James Buchanan paper items for one price. James Buchanan was the President before Abraham Lincoln. I got these items from a lady who was related to Buchanan and they were handed down through the family. 1) 3 ¼ " by 8" note that says Lancaster 17 July 1828 Received of Adam Reigart Esquire one of the executors of Edward Brien deceased Twenty dollars in full for professional services rendered to the said estate James Buchanan2) 3" by 8 " note that says Mr. Rikert please to send me a quarter cask of wine & ten gallon of Brandy and oblige yours James Buchanan Strasburg May 16 1816. 3) 7 1/8 " by 5 " invitation that says Mr Buchanan requests the pleasure of the Hon. Mr. Sturgeon's company to a Pennsylvania dinner on Christmas day, at 3 o'clock. Dec: 21 st 1847 The favor of an answer is requested. This invitation is glued on another piece of paper. This invitation is embossed Paris on the upper left corner. Also glued under the invitation is a 2" by 3" Mr. Buchanan calling card. 4) 7 " by 4 1/2 " invitation that says Mr Buchanan requests the pleasure of Mr. Sturgeon's company, at a Supper to the Pennsylvania Delegation, on Saturday next, at Eight o'clock. July 19th 1848 The favor of an answer is requested. This invitation is glued on another piece of paper. This invitation is embossed Rhoads & Sons Satin London on the upper left corner.5) 10 " tall by 8 " wide note that says Washington 4 January 1847 My Dear Sir/ Should an opportunity offer I would be glad 'you would send me three dozen of your old brandy. Perhaps W. Wm. B. Fordney may be coming to Washington this week. If so, he might bring one dozen along for his own drinking. In haste, I remain as ever your friend James Buchanan George H. Whitaker.
