Lot of items commemorating Fr. (Joseph) Damien DeVeuster, a 19 th century priest who served lepers exiled to the Hawaiian island of Molokai . His cause for canonization is well underway. The items include three vintage holy cards, one of which features a second-class relic of the saint and its connecting thread (all cards in Flemish); two sepia tone, 1930s-era postcards (in Flemish); a reproduction portrait of Fr. Damien as a young priest; a booklet, Fr. Damien: Apostle to the Lepers (in English); a first-issue cover of three Belgian stamps honoring Fr. Damien and other leprosy concerns (in Flemish); a single un-cancelled stamp depicting Fr. Damien and his church on Molokai (in Flemish/French); another postcard showing the priest's initial burial place surrounded by dignitaries (in English). Most items are in great condition although the relic holy card is rather worn and two of the postcards have writing on the back (although both are unstamped and appear never to be unsent). A nice starter collection for those interested in this selfless humanitarian.

CORRECTION: One postcard (the b/w one picturing Fr. Damien's tomb in Belgium) does include a partial cancelation stamp on the back and traces of the live stamp that was once affixed to it. However, the inked handwriting is fairly light.
