This auction is for a lot of 12 vintage photos from the Terre Haute, Indiana, area including:

-Looking west at 7th & Wabash, circa 1910s or 1920s
-Looking east from tribune building (6 or 8 stories high), circa 1900
-Courthouse, ca 1950s
-Boat Dock at Fairbanks Park, circa 1950s
-Knights of Columbus Building, circa 1940s
-Fire Dept, 13th & Chase, circa 1940s
-Rose Poly, 13th & Locust, circa ? probably 1940s
-Thompson School, 12th & Ohio, circa 1940s
-Bus station, 6th & Cherry, circa 1940s
-Old mill, probably mill on Otter Creek north of Terre Haute

Also included are four booklets:

-"The Old Mill" or The Story of a Rain Drop, by M. M. Want. The photo on the cover appears to be the same mill as above and this is w the location for the photo was taken. It contains a poem and an advertisement in the back for "O.C. Patent Flour and O.C. Meal", which were apparently made at the mill.

-"Abraham Markle 1770-1826, Markle's Mill on Otter Creek Built 1816 The Oldest Mill Now Operating in Indiana" is a photocopy of a pamphlet from a library that tells the story of Markle's Mill, apparently the same one mentioned above.

-"Reminiscences of Old Terre Haute" as given by George C. Fischer before the Optimist Club of Terre Haute Wednesday, February 21, 1945. This contains several pages of early Terre Haute history.

-December 30, 1978 issue of "Spectator" featuring "Old Terre Haute" as depicted by D. Omer 'Salty' Seamon from the Forrest Sr Collection. Features art by Mr. Sr as well as old photos of the city.

This item is part of the last group of items from a large collection I have been selling over time for the widow of Mr. Harry H. "Red" Howell of Plainfield, Indiana. Mr. Howell was a railroad engineer and the author of " Along the Line: Interurban to Clinton, Vol. 1, 1903-1931 ", a collection of the author's personal memories and those of others containing stories, incidents and historical facts pertaining to the Terre Haute, Indianapolis and Eastern Traction Company, which he self-published in 1976. Check my other auctions for the remainder of this collection (Note: If more is found later, it will also be listed).
