Up for auction are 4 vintage handsewn cutter quilts: The first is a great vintage hand sewn patchwork quilt. This quilt is made up of 108 blocks each containing 5 different fabrics. Some of the fabrics in this quilt are quite old, possibly late 1800's, early 1900's. They are arranged in a nice color combination with mostly a red calico forming the blocks in between. Out of the 500 plus blocks in this quilt, t are 14 that have damage, mostly to one type of fabric. The quilt has a medium weight cotton batting and an ecru muslin binding and backing. The binding is in good shape for its age. On one edge, t is much damage to the binding for about 24 inches. The remainder of the binding is in very good condition. Most of the damaged blocks are in this same area (see photos). T are two very light stains on the back. This quilt measures 58 inches by 74 inches and has been hand washed and dried flat. Also included is a very old vintage handsewn Tumbling Blocks cutter quilt. This quilt contains 621 blocks of which 1/3 to 1/2 of them have damage. It has a blue calico border which most of it has wear. It has a wide weave unbleached muslin backing. T is one hole and damage on one corner. The cotton batting is a thick weight. The quilt measures 68-1/2 by 81 inches and has been hand washed and dried flat. Also included is a very vintage Around the World cutter quilt or Postage Stamp quilt. This quilt has some wonderful vintage fabrics from the 1930's and is bound and backed by a vintage solid green. Two sides of the binding have significant wear; the other two sides have slight wear. The binding is machine sewn. The cotton batting is a medium weight. The quilt has two holes; one goes all the way through the backing and measures under 1". The other is less than 1/2" and is only on the quilt top. The quilt has been hand washed and dried flat and measures 70" by 82 inches. The last quilt is a vintage cutter quilt in, again, some great vintage fabrics. The name of the pattern eludes me. It is possibly a Mother's Choice pattern or some variation of an Irish Chain quilt. The blocks are arranged in an X pattern with intersecting diamond blocks and bordered by two levels of rectangular blocks. Most of the damage on the quilt is to the surrounding borders. None of the damage goes all the way through to the backing and the quilt has little or no staining or age discoloration. The binding is made up of several vintage fabrics and has some slight wear. The backing is the same white muslin as the front. The cotton batting is a medium weight. The damage to the interior of the quilt is to 2 X's. One of the X's has damage to 11 individual blocks and the other X has damage to 4 individual blocks. Around the edge t is damage to 4 blocks in these measurements: 34"X3", 11"X3", 51"X6" and 10"X3". The entire quilt measures 64" by 84" and has been hand washed and dried flat. *Some quilts that I sell, I have cleaned using a non-chlorine detergent or cleaned in such a way to not affect the overall integrity of the piece. I will disclose whether I have cleaned the item or not. **All of my listings for items that are fabric have been checked for stains, tears, wear, etc. keeping in mind that most of these pieces are old. I have tried to describe any issues to the best of my ability. What may seem insignificant to me may be of utmost importance to you so please ask questions! I try to respond in a timely manner.
