LOUIS STYLE Ballon or Oval back, gilt chair with gorgeous detail to add to any fabulous decorator interior. I love the proportion of this also, with it's lovely wide seat for total comfort - and comfort is not always typical of these chairs! This style is a gold standard, a staple if you will, of great design which is why this form has survived and thrived for over 3 hundred years in the hall of interior design - just open Architectural Digest or Home and Garden and you will likely see one of these chairs in one of their features in any given issue. Practically every furniture company or designer in the world has at one time done an incantation of this chair: Even one of the world's premiere modern designers, Phillipe Starck, has reinvented it in clear lucite as the 'Ghost Chair' and it is gorgeous . This is the traditional shape and finish which is gilt over wood. The fabric on the removeable seat cushion is a finely striped cotton blend with a matte sheen, and in excellent condition.The chair is very sturdy and in terriffic shape, but does minor show signs of wear from use - you know, your typical tiny nick or paint loss heer and therte, but really very unnoticeable and this is shop ready. You can buy amazing high end fabrics like Clarence House, Brunschwig or Scalamandre and many others on eBay for a fraction of what they would cost in their to-the-trade-only showrooms, for pennies on their original retail cost, if you want to redo the cushion. This would cost you more than a thousand OR MORE in a high end shop, through a designer, or on 1stdibs - type in Louis and you'll see I'm right. The last two photos are examples of Louis style oval back chairs - the set on the right are $4500 and the set on the left around 2k - This is fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
