For the selective buyer and aficionado of antiquity, and for collectors of Louis Vuitton hand painted Damier line, take a look at this hand painted steamer trunk. This Damier Louis Vuitton trunk circa 1889 measures 27 1/2 inches high, 24 inches wide, and 44 inches long. It is stamped on the base, Louis Vuitton, Paris, 1 Rue Scribe, Louis Vuitton London 454 Strand. The serial number on the front label on the latch reads B.02162. T is a number on the interior of the trunk on the label it is No. 39561. The trunk has all the correct interior labels and is marked "Made in France". All the tacks, rivets and buckles are also marked Louis Vuitton. The trunk is in great condition. The exterior Damier canvas has suffered some normal travel wear. The interior cloth quilted lid has a water stained in the upper left corner. The trunk is fully fitted with three linen trays with a lot of history. The trays are in perfect working order with the normal staining for a trunk of it's age. T are some chips and marks on the front outside edge. One of the outer leather straps intended to hold the outside strapping for the trunk is gone as is the outside strap. The outside wooden slats and leather that surround the entire trunk are intact. The bottom four rollers all work perfectly. This Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunk is a very beautiful peice of history.
