SCARCE "I Love Lucy" Santa Ethel Mertz Doll In Original Box!Released in the fall of 2007, this special Platinum Edition Mattel Barbie doll features Ethel of "I Love Lucy" dressed as Santa Claus. Barbie collectors know that "Platinum Edition" dolls are very special and consist of editions of less than 1,000 worldwide!Only 999 of this Vivian Vance as "Ethel Santa" were manufactured. The very limited number has caused competition from Barbie collectors and "I Love Lucy" fans--all trying to add this rare edition to their collection.While only 999 were created, very few have survived with boxes in mint condition. This doll is in mint condition--never removed from the box. The box is almost perfect. The only thing that keeps the doll's box from being absolutely mint is a small crease in the lower right side panel of the box (as seen in the second picture posted here). The lower area of the right side shows a slight line which measures 1.5". It is unnoticeable when displaying the doll from the front and a minimal concern--just being extra critical here for you. All other areas of the box--sides, clear plastic window, top, and bottom, are in excellent--flaw-free condition!This particular Santa Ethel has quickly being retired to private doll collections and very few seem to be offered on eBay in recent months.
