I am offering a lovely 1964 copy-write small Dam troll. She has the store price on her foot....something I have seen on only a couple other trolls. She was 69 cents! This will be a future record of what they cost in 1964-65. (A Dam troll book that I will be listing is ticketed 29 cents!) She is marked C64 DAM on her back (Dam is light). Her hair was sparse and brittle brown natural fleece, and I replaced it with about 4 times the amount of authentic Icelandic fleece of the same natural color. (It is from a lush, fine quality pelt.) The hair is a nice rich brown , with a touch of lighter hairs highlighting it near the base. The eyes are original, as well as the vintage crocheted rusty salmon and brown dress.(washed and fresh. Non-smoking home) She is in great condition as you can see in the photos. My colors are a bit yellow-green in some photos because I had a fluorescent light in my photo area, so I show flash and non-flash. NOTE TO SERIOUS COLLECTORS : My daughter, who inherited my love for trolls, is currently selling her rarest 1964, small Dam troll on Ebay.(mels-trolls) The C64 troll is still still in it's original retail bag with the Dam Co.cardboard toppe r, ending soon .You may never see another in original packaging. BACKGROUND: In 2000 I began restoring vintage trolls, and designing fantasy trolls on Ebay (using less than desirable trolls). To the best of my knowledge, no one on Ebay had done this, aside from a woman selling 9" modern Dams in lovely handmade dresses, often replacing the hair with synthetic fibers or horse tail hair. In a few months, Ebay was filling with others selling restored or re-designed vintage trolls. When I boxed up my trolls near the end of 2002, I did a count, and there were nearly 30 sellers re-making trolls. In 2008 I sold off some remaining trolls, but stopped when my father was diagnosed with cancer. I am going to try to get rid of the rest of my personal troll collection, including any remaining restored trolls, and eventually my supplies, so I can get my art room space back for art and jewelry design. TROLL HAIR: I carefully restored trolls with sections of fine quality “Icelandic sheep” pelts. (the fleece used in the original trolls). I purchased some of the best and longest fleece available, at costs between $100-$200 plus shipping. (From what I had heard, prices have increased because Icelandic fleece was a very desirable material for movie hair, and beards; such as the black and white hair of Cruella, in 1001 Dalmatians). The pelts are relatively small, and only sections of the pelts contain the longest fleece, so the best and longest troll hair is the most expensive. I spent hours washing and combing and prepping the fleece, creating custom dyed lots, and I spent a great deal on vintage troll clothing, vintage craft material, and miniatures. My trolls with replaced hair had huge amounts of natural lustrous hair or a wide range of custom mixed dye colors. ALSO NOTE: If you are a serious troll collector, and are paying high prices for “restored” vintage trolls; Tibetan mohair or lamb, Chinese goat or lamb, mohair: goat hair, craft hair, and hair from other animals are not original to the trolls. Many of my trolls were all original, and little care was needed other than washing/combing of hair, re-gluing when needed, or pressing/cleaning of outfits.
