Very sweet little antique 3/4 size violin with tidy inlaid purfling and genuine ebony fixings. The violin is unlabeled but has been appraised by an independant violin shop in Swansea as being French and crafted around 1875-1890 and worth around £ 300-350. Therefore this is a nice little violin. There are no visible cracks or repairs and the only damage that I can see it a small very old woodworm hole (see pics )Some wear around the bridge area from bridge rubbing. It is spirit finished which is shiny in places and dull in others as you would expect from a violin of this age. It has a beautiful colour, from a golden amber shade to a richer russet red.The back and ribs are flamed maple with lovely markings. It comes with the fixings that I obtained with it, a nice ebony fluted tailpiece, a vintage fine tuner on the e string and an old chinrest. All of these work well and are set up ready to go.In my opinion the soundpost is correctly fitted and the violin has been set up with fitted bridge and strings. The pegs are rosewood and vintage.Comes with a tatty but still servicable old coffin case, and a bow that came with it which has seen better days. However bows are easy to pick up.Please view all of the pics, I have tried to show all angles of the violin. Sold as seen, if you are local you are welcome to come and try it out.Instrument read more
