Beautiful, antique, very unique Limoges plate, 7" diameter. Signed with the artist's initials: LCG '96 and stamped with the green dove with banner, "Limoges, France." A very detailed hand painted butterfly is the highlight of this special plate. Multiple colors were used, yellow, light blue, orange-red, outlined in black. Very detailed, photo does not do justice. The butterfly has landed on pale periwinkle blue flowers and green leaves, 5 large flowers and one small. The background is white. The edge of this plate is very decorative. It is rimmed in gold in good condition. A swirl pattern of sorts is created with abstract shapes of a very pale yellow-cream color, 5 swatches of this, with an embossed decorative gold edge in a scroll and leaf pattern, raised and painted with gold. This frames the butterfly/flower design in a very interesting way. The back of the plate shows mild signs of wear on the underside, mild discoloration. T is a very minute nick on the underside which I could not see without magnification but which you can feel if you run your fingers around the edge. Item will be meticulously wrapped.
