Lovely Mint 1802 English Sterling Engraved Vinaigrette Presented is a fabulous quality, sterling silver vinaigrette made by Cocks & Bettridge of Birmingham in 1802. The sides are engraved with lovely bands of tiny bead designs and the top has a decorative border. The inside is gold washed and t is a hinged lid with holes in a diamond formation. The bottom and lid are marked with the anchor for Birmingham, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of King George III's head, a date letter e for the year 1802 and a maker's mark for Cocks & Bettridge. This old piece is in superb condition and the engravings are crisp. Both hinges are in superb working condition, and both the interior pierced lid and the cover close very securely. T are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs. The box measures 3/4 of an inch by 1 inch.
