THIS IS A COLLECTOR'S ITEM THAT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM.
For your consideration is this extraordinary sterling silver ladiesÂ' evening purse in exceptional condition which actually belonged to my great grandmother in England at the turn of the 19th century. T are no flaws - all of the mesh is attached and t are no empty holes w mesh should be attached. The solid and perfectly working clasp retains its original sterling silver chain, which also in excellent condition. This is a perfect and unusual piece for either a gift or to start a wonderful collection ! The measurements are 12" in length (when stretch to its widest length) x 8 in height (from the tip of the fastener to the bottom of the mesh). The fastener itself is 8" wide. Condition is extremely fine. The purse weighs 13.30 ounces. The English sterling hallmark for the purse is listed on the outside of both parts of the frame: The hallmarks are very small and are located on the outside of both frames (to the side).First is a workmaster stamp but it is difficult to make out - looks like an EF. Then the Anchor, Lion, & R. The purse measures 16 1/2" with the chain fully extended. Happy Bidding! BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!!
