The matte black background serves to set off beautifully the floral decoration all around and inside the bowl and all around the pitcher. The flowers, branches, etc. are hand painted in shades of rich pink. At one point I would think t was gilt around the edge of the bowl and pitches and t is still some remaining on both pieces. T are a couple of very small pits in the bowl and on one area of the edge a very old and small nick, about 1/16" long. Also I pictured some small areas on the side of the bowl w the black paint has rubbed off a bit. Darkened with age but I think you can see it in one of the photos. The bowl is 15" in diameter and stands 5.25". Has an attractive shape with the mid part swelling out slightly. The raised base is 7.5" in diameter. The pitcher is almost 12.5" high and remarkably the spout is undamaged. T is a very slight hairline place on the inside of the pitcher that goes about 1" down from the top. I can see it but cannot feel it and it does not extend to the outside of the pitcher. From handle to spout the pitcher is 8.25". It swells to about 7" and the base is 5" in diameter. A very fine antique set made by Carlton Ware in the late 1890's to about 1915 as seen by the bird in the wreath mark. I welcome comments and questions and thank you for viewing.
