Up for auction is a tall clear crystal "Fern" pattern decanter created by the Anglo-American firm William Yeoward. It measures 4 5/8 inches across the base and 12 inches to the top of its stopper, and it holds 800 milliliters or 27 ounces. This decanter is of recent manufacture, but it is a reproduction or adaption of an early Victorian pattern (see below). Many pieces in this pattern continue to be sold by stores like Tiffany's, Saks, Neiman Marcus, Williams Sonoma, et. al., but to the best of my knowledge this particular decanter is no longer in production. I believe that it originally sold for $440. The same shape was once available in a smaller size, now also discontinued, but I believe that both sizes are still available in the vibrant colors pictured in the stock photograph I have posted.To my eye, this decanter appears to be in near perfect condition. I can find no cracks, chips, or scratches in it with the exception of a very shallow scratch on the bottom that is less than an inch long. This scratch is not visible unless you turn the decanter over and look for it under strong light. My photographs are not very good, and you may find it easiest to study the stock photograph in order to determine whether the decanter is to your taste.
