Description: For your consideration, we have to offer a Loyal National League Members Silver Medal. Inscribed A COMMON UNION/UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE LOYAL NATIONAL LEAGUE. In the center, under crossed flags, TO/MAINTAIN THE/POWER GLORY/AND/INTEGRITY/OF THE NATION(<-Very Faint). The reverse has, THE LOYAL NATIONAL LEAGUE. In the center, above an eagle, PLEDGED TO/UNCONDITIONAL/LOYALTY TO THE/GOVERNMENT/AND TO/NATIONAL UNITY. The Loyal National League was formed in reaction to the Copperhead Movement. Considered a militant group, the League was dedicated to rooting out disloyalty in the Federal Government, preservation of the Union, support for Abraham Lincoln, and the Republican Party, it also demanded that Southern sympathizers be desmissed from government positions. In 1863, the league held a mass meeting in New York to mark the anniversary of the attack on Fort Sumter. Condition is Good with the lettering worn down as seen in the photos.
