NO PAY PAL!!!! Up for auction is a real WOW of a large brooch/pin that my aunt gave my mother in the late 1950's. It is in perfect condition. It is 2 1/2" high & 1 3/4" wide at its widest point. I do not know how many grams of gold the piece contains, but it is very substantial & weighty & is marked "14K" on the back. The bar pin runs north-south & is also in excellent condition: it closes well & does not slip open. You could place a gold chain under the bar pin & wear it as a pendant. The brooch itself has a distinct & very intricate floral design. The "stem" of the bouquet & the under sides of the long leaves are done in smooth shiny gold. The front sides of the leaves are done in a brushed matte-finish gold, providing nice textural contrast. The two large "flowers" appear to be lilies. The "flower" parts are done in pear-shaped amethysts bordered by an open woven lacey scrollwork pattern. I do not know the carat weight of the amethysts, but I would estimate them conservatively to be about 8 carats total for the two. Each amethyst pear measures 1/2" long x 3/8" wide at its widest point. The amethysts are not too light or too dark, nor are they cloudy, but rather that perfect deep well saturated purple color w/ incredible clarity. Each amethyst is securely prong set w/ 4 prongs. T is also a smaller "flower" to add further visual interest & color which is composed of 6 small round turquoise stones, each one well prong-set w/ 4 prongs each. This brooch is large enough to make a bold statement on any suit lapel, dress, sash, silk belt, or thick sweater, as well as on a dressy coat. It will also be spectacular as a pendant. This is one of the most beautiful & unique pieces of fine jewelry that I have ever seen. It is nothing less than a real WOW, as well as a fine investment! Buyer will pay shipping charges of $5.00.
